Aphids the organic way

How do we control aphids? Masterly inactivity! Yes, we don’t control them, we let nature do the job. In a well balanced ecosystem natural predators will respond to an increase in aphid numbers, and restore the balance. Inevitably there is some damage done to our plants before its worthwhile for the beneficial predators to make an appearance.

Simple physical methods such as squishing or hosing will help, but once the predators move in they rapidly get control. Ladybirds can eat 20,000 aphids during their lifetime. Here is a healthy looking guy doing the job.
